Specialty Engineering

Specialty engineering is the foundation of our engineering services. Thielsch Engineering has over fifty multi-disciplined engineers who have been performing various aspects of failure analysis and forensic engineering for most of their professional careers. Whether it is a boiler, deaerator, pipeline, bridge, fastener, or an entire power plant, Thielsch engineers have performed a failure analysis of it! Once the root cause of a failure is determined, our work often continues either by providing expert witness testimony or by offering our expertise in the insurance phase of the project. To help prevent these incidents from occurring in the first place, we are ready to act as “owner’s representative” in order to ensure that our clients receive the highest quality service from their vendors.

Expert Witness

Thielsch Engineering Building Design Thumb

Thielsch Engineering has over 25 years of experience performing failure analyses and forensic investigations along with providing expert witness testimony in the cases. Our 50 full-time, multi-disciplined engineers determine the root cause of failures, the extent of the damage, and the responsible parties (manufacturer, operator, etc.) in industrial accidents, complex failures, fires catastrophic explosions, and product liability cases. We carefully manage these precarious assignments with the understanding of their potential to develop into litigation cases. In these legal projects, our staff of engineers and scientists has provided expert witness testimonies across the country, presenting the findings of investigations in a clear and precise manner accessible to both industry professionals and jury members.

Thielsch Engineering has a multi-disciplined team of knowledgeable forensic engineers who are experienced in performing on-site investigations into the root cause of failures as well as any possible contributing factors to industrial accidents, complex failures and catastrophic explosions. The failure modes we investigate often include fatigue, fracture, creep, corrosion, erosion, low-quality welds, wear, improper material selection, poor design or improper maintenance.

Examples previous investigations we have performed include all components from the power generation industry, rotary components, storage tanks, pipelines, boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, bridges, automobiles, medical implants and structural members.

Thielsch Engineering has over 25 years of experience performing failure analyses and forensic investigations to determine the root cause of failures as well as determining the responsible party. We review the incident from a systems perspective, and determine the financial implications of the occurrence. We have three objectives: determine what happened, determine who is responsible, and design a solution, when appropriate.

Our 50 full-time, multi-disciplined engineers carefully manage these precarious assignments with the understanding of their potential to develop into either litigation or insurance adjustment cases. In addition, we also provide engineering evaluations and recommendations necessary to address any damage and efficiently reintroduce a facility back into production.
